What is environmental equipment?

Environmental equipment consists of devices, which help Deaf and Hard of Hearing people with ordinary household activities. Under the 1986 Disabled Persons Act, anyone with a hearing loss, whether or not they use an hearing aid, has the right to be assessed for the provision of environmental equipment.

Who carries out the assessments?

If you live in the City of Bristol or North Somerset, Environmental Equipment Officers from the Centre for Deaf People will carry out a free assessment in your home.
